Chippendale “violin” bookcase (called "violin" because of the carving on the centre
door) was made in 1763 for the earl of Pembroke. Said to be one of Chippendales finest pieces.
My piece is made form pear and stained, it has a reading slope in the draw. All six locks in the doors
and draw are working. The books are removable.
There is twenty eight small inlayed stars containing 40 different pieces wood in each, of ebony and
boxwood.
The two large stars ( 15 mm in diameter ) contain eighty four different pieces of wood also in ebony
and boxwood.
