Philadelphia Tilt top revolving piecrust tea table ca 1755 made in 2009
One of the most important pieces of furniture to survive Colonial America, Known as "Acme of
perfection" this tea table stands at the peek of Philadelphia Rococo craftsmanship in addition to
serving as a masterpiece for the tilt-top tea table form. It is a rare example of the "Garvan carver"
the finest native carver working in America during the eighteenth century. It represents the
accomplishment of the 1750s and serves as a valuable example of his carving and design.
No one knows who the Garvan carver was, his work is only recognized by the quality of the carving.
Sold at Sotheby's in January 2008 for over $1.8 m

Also attributed to the Garvan carver having bold and high relief carving, these side chairs are amongst
the finest to survive from Colonial Philadelphia. Rococo motifs, including shells, C-scrolls, tassels,
ruffles, gadrooning, flower heads, acanthus leaves. ball and claw feet. Drop in seat, the material
